The term “swing dance” commonly refers to a group of dances that developed concurrently with the swing style of jazz music in the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, although the earliest of these dance forms predate swing jazz music. One of the oldest forms of urban partner dancing, Lindy Hop, is the hip hop of partner dancing! It’s fun, stylish, and soulful. In this class you will get to dance to timeless jazz artists like Ella Fitzgerald to funky upbeat musicians like the Big Bad Voodoo Daddies. The youngest form of swing dance, West Coast Swing (WCS) is one of the only forms of partner dancing that can be taken out to the clubs! Contrary to popular belief, WCS is not just something your parents do! In this swing class you will learn that WCS is full of groove, funk and freestyle! This dance can be taken anywhere! Do it in the club or at a wedding. Come see what it’s all about!
