In the early morning hours before the sun and the heat rose for the day, while living and teaching second grade in Mexico, Sarah discovered the transformational power of yoga.
Though the path wasn’t planned, yoga has changed Sarah’s life. Step by step, it led her through personal development and transformation, from a striving A-type personality to a loving and compassionate heart, with time for all. Having learned that success finds you by listening deeply and following that voice, Sarah was encouraged by meditation experiences, and turned her focus from international development, to community development and personal growth. Yoga was the connection, the path, and the teacher.
After graduating from UBC arts in community development, Sarah continued with her love of yoga and completed her 500 hour teacher’s training with Prana Yoga under Shakti Mhi. Going beyond the external, Sarah learned the art of classical Hatha Yoga and added certifications in Yin, Laughter, and Restorative studying under Bernie Clark, Farah Nazarali, and Wendy Eton. Sarah currently teaches from her heart and is proud and grateful to include Exhale and its students among her growing yoga community in our beautiful Vancouver city.
Sarah’s Hatha classes are characterized by a “moving meditation” style where you are encouraged to open up and release, to listen to your body, and work with your inner truth. Beginning each class with a mini meditation, and incorporating affirmations, Sarah’s classes are heart-warming and heart-opening. Combining a fluid style with strength building holds, you will leave rejuvenated; strong and powerful to meet the world. Always reading and learning, Sarah endeavors to bring new life to each practice while grounding in a strong foundation that you can sink into and reach up from. Believing it’s your practice, Sarah will give you the space and guidance to walk your own path of yoga to your happiest, healthiest, and most genuine self.
A space to relax and look within, Sarah’s Yin Yoga classes combine long-held passive or yin postures with elements of meditation and restorative yoga to create a warm, candlelit space for you to melt into. Yin Yoga is the perfect release for your mind, and balance for your body as Sarah’s class allows you to release fully into poses, producing a more balanced, open body and mind. This class will truly have you floating home for an incredible Sunday night sleep.
Bring a smile, bring a friend, bring a heart of love to share, and you will find the same.
